Kuwait’s inflation rate increased 3.4 percent in June compared to the same month the previous year, Central Department of Statistics data shows.
Food prices lead the inflation rise, increasing by 7.2 percent year-on-year, while house prices rose by 4.7 percent, the official news agency KUNA reports.
Compared to May, inflation was slightly up with an increase of 0.5 percent. Food prices were up 0.1 percent and house prices up 1.3 percent.
According to the report, beverages and tobacco prices rose four percent compared to June 2009, but recorded a decline of 0.2 percent compared to the previous month.
Clothing and footwear costs increased 3.8 percent year-on-year, while the rate of inflation for education and health services rose 1.5 percent during the same period.
