Toby McGuire just might regret his decision to pull out of Spiderman 4 after hearing who his replacement is. That’s right, it’s none other than Hollywood sensation Robert Pattinson. Sorry Toby.

Since losing their lead actor to script issues, executives at Columbia studios are now planning a prequel to the successful Spiderman franchise which will centre around Spiderman’s alter-ego, Peter Parker, as a teenager and Twilight hottie R-Patz is the top choice for the part, according to Britain’s Daily Mirror.

A source tells the publication, “The buzz in Hollywood is all about R-Patz as the hot, young thing being lined up to fill Tobey Maguire's shoes. It would be a hard act to follow as fans were traumatised at the news Tobey was going.”

But it may not be a guarantee for R-Patz as fellow teen heartthrob Zac Efron is also keen to land the role saying, “I don’t know what the chances are to be honest. I assume they’re pretty slim. It’s a long-shot but if it came down to it, it’d be a dream come true. What young actor wouldn’t?”
